Tour de France 2018 – Flash back to Alpe d’Huez stage
Winter is finally here and snow has started to fall as low as Le Bourg d’Oisans. With that in mind, we take a look back to warmer times last summer. Last July the Tour de France once again visited the Oisans region. Stage 12 saw a stage depart from Bourg Saint Maurice and finish on the 21 hairpins between Le Bourg d’Oisans and Alpe d’Huez. Geraint Thomas became the first British rider to win the famous stage and went on to secure the Yellow jersey all the way to Paris.
In 2019 the Tour misses out on the Alpe d’Huez. However people hoping to watch the Tour next summer whilst visiting Bourg d’Oisnas, can still do so. Stage 18 from Embrum to Valloire passes over the Col du Lautaret and the Col du Galibier. Both mountain passes are within a good days retrun ride from Bourg d’Oisans. The stage takes place on the 25th July. Looking forward to seeing you all out on the road that day.
