Oisans Col Series – Bike Oisans

During July and August, every Tuesday morning is dedicated to the Oisans Col Series, were a different local climb is closed to motorised vehicles and reserved for cyclists.

The climbs are purely recreational, untimed and require no registration. Refreshments are provided by Oisans Tourisme & Oisans tourist offices, at the top of each climb. Riders should obey all traffic laws and ride safely.

COL D’ORNON– 7th of July 2015. The road is closed to all traffic from 9 to 11 AM between La Paute (2 km before Bourg d’Oisans) and the Col d’Ornon. This first edition of Oisans col series takes you up to the Col d’Ornon, the gateway to the Matheysin plateau (via La Morte or Laffrey).

COL DE SARENNE – 14th of July and 18th of August 2015. The road is closed to traffic from 9 to 12 AM between Le Perron (3.8 km after Clavans le Bas), the Col de Sarenne and the Alpe d’Huez altiport. Included in the 2013 Tour de France, the Col de Sarenne is an alternative route up to Alpe d’Huez … locally, it’s known as the “savage”! The views from the top over La Meije are spectacular.

COL DU SABOT – 21st of July and 25th of August 2015. The road is closed to all traffic from 9 to 12 AM between Le Collet (2 km after Vaujany) and the Col du Sabot (end of the road). The “little, isolated pass” ideal for exploring during the week of the Tour de France. A fabulous view awaits you at the top of the narrow road leading up to the Col du Sabot, overlooking the Lac de Grand Maison, the Eau d’Olle Valley and towards the Col du Glandon.

AURIS EN OISANS – 28th of July 2015. The road up to Auris en Oisans is closed from 9 to 11am. Brand new for 2015 between the bridge at Freney d’Oisans (on the route between Bourg d’Oisans and the Col du Lautaret) and the ski resort village at Auris en Oisans. The climb is mostly south facing with stunning views over the glaciers of La Meje.

ALPE D’HUEZ 21 BENDS – 4th of August 2015. The road up to Alpe d’Huez is closed for use by cyclists between 9 and 11 AM. Make the iconic climb up the 21 switchbacks that feature in the legendary Tour de France stage.From the beginning of the road climbing up to Alpe d’Huez (at the Timtoo Timing electronic terminal) up to Place Paganon / in front of Alpe d’Huez tourist office.

COLS GLANDON ET CROIX DE FER – Tuesday the 11th of August 2015. The road is closed to all traffic 9 to 12 AM between Rivier d’Allemont (10 km after Allemont) and the Col de la Croix de Fer. Included in both the Tour de France and La Marmotte, the Col du Glandon and the Col de la Croix de Fer are unmissable experiences in the life of a cyclist. From the top, you will be rewarded with a magnificent view.
